Time was ticking on and the 'one hour' that 'kira-kun was already half over. If the real Kira decided that 'kira-kun was a bother, or if 'kira-kun decided to be stupid, would he be able to find the notebook again? 'A safe place', come to think of it, was awfully vague.

No, he could not think like that. He had to assume the best. After all, the real Kira probably didn't know who Kitazawa-kun was. And as stupid as that boy was, Akira would not be dumb enough to try to write his name after seeing that little note. So Akira would remain alive for a little longer and the replies would soon come in.

It would be interesting to live through a war. Sato grinned sardonically at the thought. War was not supposed to be a good thing but still... still, it would be cool to see everything go up in flames. His grin faded when he realised that he probably would not live to see it, the way things were going. If 'kira-kun wasn't stopped, well, the superpowers of the world had nukes, right? And probably enough firepower to blow Japan off the face of the earth. Even if they survived the preliminary attack, what was their peacekeeping force compared to the armies of the world?

It was a mistake.

Sato turned to look at the television, where every channel was stoically ignoring the Kira broadcast. That meant that negotiations were going on somewhere in the upper levels of the government. That meant... there was still time. To avoid all this mess, there were two things he needed to do.

He pulled Kitazawa's phone from his pocket, a slight smirk on his face. Idiot didn't even realise that his 'dear sempai' had lifted it. Calmly, he dialed a number that he had come to be familiar with in the course of his studies, pulling out a sheet of paper. Did the effects of the notebook apply to the pages? He'd just have to bet on it.

"Hello. This is Kira, the real one. In roughly forty seconds, Morinaka Tarou, who is sitting next to you, will die from a heart attack. It should prove that I am Kira. Don't worry, he's been stealing taxpayers' money. And so have you, come to think of it. Ah, here goes. Three, two, one... Hm, right.

"Patch me up to one of your superiors and I'll let you live for now."

So it did work. Pity about Tarou, though.

"Yes, I am Kira and no, the broadcast was not made by me. In fact, I would like to make a statement right now. If you could pass it on to the media and make sure it's broadcasted as soon as possible, you could avoid a massacre of Japanese citizens. You can come after me later; what's important right now is the future of our country. Ready to record? Good.

"Tell them this: I am the real Kira and I have located the imposter. He will be dead in a few minutes.

"I have no intention nor need to blackmail the world because it will only bring about unnecessary suffering for innocents. Always, the welfare of innocents is on my mind. Besides, many have already converted to my point of view and it is in that way that I shall win the world. Nothing will happen at the one hour mark, I promise.

"Got it? Good. I'm sure you've already traced my phone but it's ok. I borrowed it. You are probably analysing my voice as we speak, but it's fine too, because I am using a synthesiser. Good luck finding me."

Sato turned the phone off. He was bluffing about the synthesiser bit, of course, but he had long schooled his voice to sound like something a computer would read to you. The number he had called was not the special one that he knew of, so they wouldn't be able make that kind of connection. He was safe. If not, well, the phone was in Akira's name.

Speaking of which, there was the second thing he needed to do.

He reached under his bed and pulled out a tin of kerosene. The news was already beginning to broadcast 'Kira's' message. He smiled, slipping a lighter into his pocket. Then, he went off to Kitazawa Akira's room.

"You wouldn't have time to find him, even if I knew where he was now," Raito replied, trying to remain as calm and level-headed while his father continued to hold him back and up off the ground with his strong arms. Damn him... why, now of all times, did he have to go psychotic all of a sudden? And this time he wasn't faking it...

"You really don't have a choice," Raito responded, attempting a smirk despite the uncomfortable situation. "I'm not going to bargain any further than I have. And for furutre references, L... there is only one Kira. AND I AM HIM!!" That's right, try to act insane. Perhaps it would be enough to make L think he was in some way psychotic and unstable? It was a long shot, but at the moment all of his cards were being dealt on a whim of large luck and small witt. He wouldn't normally do something so foolish, but desperate times called for desperate measures, and he refused to be responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent lives. On top of, he also had no intentions of being locked up. If he could have both, then all would be perfect. If he had to choose... well, he would cross that road when he got there.

"Shut up!" Yagami was about to loose his own nerves as he held his son's arms tighter behind his back and lifted him higher above the ground. "I wasn't joking, Raito, when I said I would take your life unless you took mine. If you are Kira... then the world itself will be saved from your insanity. If you are not..."

If he was not... then what? His old man hadn't even thought this through. So, was he going to go with his promise?

"5 secconds," Yagami replied, suddenly shoving a hand into Raito's spine.

Damn his father! It hurt! He could feel his hands pushing at just the right pressure point, which he knew would break soon unless he did something. But his father wouldn't do that, would he? He didn't kill him and Misa while they were in the car... it was all a trick. A trap. Could this be it too?

"... 4 secconds..."

"D-Dad?!" Shock. This was an emotion he could not hide, because he could not believe this himself. Would he sacrifice everything, including his own son? He could feel his fingers digging further into him, and though he tried to move to escape, the pain was almost too much. He had to do it... he had to kill his father.

"... 3 secconds..."

Quickly, but also with careful actions so that no one could see what he was doing, he reached behind his back pocket, and withdrew the Death Note. With as nimble fingers as he could manage with his body shaking as fiercely as it did, he managed to sloppily write the name of his father, all the while holding the notebook behind him, between his back and his father's front so that it would be hidden to the world. No matter what, he had to continue with his plans. This changed nothing. He promised himself from the beginning that if it came down to it, he would kill his family. And now... he had.

"... 2 secconds..."

And so, thirty secconds later and Raito was suddenly released. He was let go because Yagami-san had fallen on the floor, and was now clutching his heart as his agonized roar escaped past his lips. Raito had hidden the Death Note quickly back into his back pocket, covered slightly by his long shirt. He could hear his father croaking in pain and agony as the heart attack run its cource. He just... shouldn't think about it. He should just close his ears... don't look at him.

run, run [02 May 2005|05:47pm]

He was trying very hard to keep his cool but WHERE THE HELL WAS IKEDA? Apparently, sempai had excused himself from the inspection group and disappeared off somewhere. When Ikeda-sempai made up his mind to disappear, it was near impossible to find him. Akira growled lowly in his throat. He needed the Death Note back.

Where would Ikeda-sempai be hiding? Even worse, what if Ikeda-sempai discovered the secret of the book? He didn't notice the foot stuck in his way and tripped, only to be caught and dragged into a broom closet. He blinked, surprised by the sudden darkness, then cringed when a light flared in front of his face.

"I was wondering when you'd catch up, 'kira-kun."

Ikeda was lighting candles. In a broom closet. Filled with combustibles. Including the Death Note, sitting dangerously close to one established candle on top of a cardboard box.

"If you move, you'll topple one of these candles. I think the consequences are plain to even you, 'kira-kun. I will step out of the door and lock it." Carefully, Ikeda picked up the Death Note and sat down opposite Akira, leaning on the door.

"S... sempai, what do you mean? What are you doing?" asked Akira, trying to sound confused and innocent.

Ikeda merely chuckled, eyes glowing oddly orange in the candlelight. He pulled out a pen and cradled the Death Note lovingly. "Ne, 'kira-kun, if I write your name down in this book, will you really die?"

"DON'T!"

Ikeda set the book aside, laughing. "That was fast. I thought I'd have to be more creative than that to get a confession from Kira. Then again, you are probably the idiot who sent that stupid message to the TV station and not the real Kira."

Akira stared at him sempai, stunned. He didn't know which was worse, that he had been found out, that he had been betrayed by a sempai or that he had just been called an idiot to his face.

"What are you going to do, then?" he whispered finally.

Ikeda shrugged. "Call the police? It's the only logical thing to do. However, it hardly seems far to 'kira-kun. If you get convicted as Kira, then they'll try to pin all the blame on you to cover up for their past incompetence. You'll probably end up dying with a heap of false charges on your head.

"Leave you alone and confiscate this notebook? I don't think I can take the risk. If you dare announce to the world that you want to be God, I'm sure you'll dare to come after me to get the notebook back and proceed with your plan.

"What am I to do with you, 'kira-kun?"

"Don't you believe that my plan will work? Sempai, I... we can work together! We can create the world anew! I'm willing to work with you! I've always respected sempai for your brilliance and I think we can achieve this together!" cried Akira, grasping at any chance of having the book returned to his hands.

"'Together' is not part of my vocabulary," replied Ikeda coolly. "I cannot tolerate working with others. But I think... there is a way. There is a way that I can give 'kira-kun his book back and watch the ensuing show. Can I trust you, Kitazawa-kun?"

Akira tried not to grin too widely. "Of course, sempai!"

Ikeda grinned and nodded. "I'll wait for you outside, then," he told Akira. Calmly, he lifted a lighter to the smoke detector and stepped out before the sprinkler system activated.

Ikeda has to die, that bastard.

~+~

Sato drew a little heart at the end of the sentence, just for effect, then tucked a few loose sheets into his pocket. In general, he was a 'good' person but rules are made to be bent. Kitazawa was an idiot. Ikeda Sato trusted no one. But he had faith. He had faith.

Kitazawa Akira, attempts to write his sempai's name on the Death Note only to suffer a massive attack of guilt, after which he burns to death in a public area, leaving the Note behind in a safe place.

Oh yes, he had faith in that.

Raito is Kira.

Could it be that easy? Blurting it out just like that? He did have to recognize that he had done something similar to Raito. He too, had confessed who he truly was face to face and he knew for sure, in his assumptions, that if Raito were Kira, it would have been incredibly humiliating.

Of all the.. after getting so far, there just seems to be coming more and more of 'Kira'.

"If you have that such power, then kill me now! Or I will kill you!!"

That was it.. no more..

"Yagami-san, please be quiet." He said roughly, "We really don't need any of this stupidity right now." L just merely glared into the TV screen, gripping slightly onto his knees. "We have the limit of an hour, to be more precise, less than an hour for all this squabbling." A pause. Everyone as he hoped, turned quiet and L continued, "..Raito-kun"

He didn't move an inch from where he was, but he knew the other looked to him, "Thousands of criminals for millions of innocent lives. Raito-kun, so you know who this other Kira is, do you know of his location and identity?"

L's plan for now was simple: To know of this other Kira's location and profile and possibly create a false video of surrendering to this other Kira and while he approves, to possibly gain more time to get to this Kira and catch him. Of course, there was a slight troublesome consequence; the risk of someone or any other people's lives at the cause of this risky attempt.

There was no way L was going to let off Raito do this, not when he's still chained.

( I'm sorry for taking so long to post. I had finals and.. couldn't find the time to get online and actually write something. )

At the end of the day, Misa retreated to a private dressing room and changed into street clothes. She loved her work, truly. But it was tiresome. Tiresome to keep the men in suits happy. Tiresome, as she really did two jobs at once.

One was her secret. Nobody knew what she knew, what she remembered. She had been the Second Kira. Rem had told her that much. Instead of getting straight into the car, she avoided everyone and took off on her own. A walk would do her good, even if she had to hide behind sunglasses to keep from drawing too much attention. Still, there were whispers as she wove her path through a crowd.

For Light, she would do anything. Was this really helping? Would this catch anyone? She might not even be right about her suspicions, but everything seemed to point that way. Needing some time to herself, she shut off the mobile phone that she promised to always leave on. All of them. If Light needed her, he would have to wait.

"Ahh, Misa's tired." She had stopped outside a coffee shop and stretched, standing up on her toes and raising her arms over her head. "Mmm." Just a little detour wouldn't hurt. Quickly she slipped into the cafe and returned with a caramel latte. Sweet, but not too sweet. It had been a while, she was overdue back at home. Misa flipped open a cell phone and checked the time.

"Misa's late." It hadn't seemed that L had called, but she turned around and began the walk home. It seemed time moved faster on the walk home. After all, she could see Light. Everyone was surely inside making a big commotion about how she didn't come home. Misa crept around, avoiding where she knew the camera was outside. Then, all of a sudden, she popped right up in front of it, smiling and holding her fingers in a peace sign. Her tongue poked out slightly as she made her announcement.

"Misa's home!" There was nothing to do but wait until the gates opened and she was home. As usual, she went straight to her room to think. Either Light could wait until later, or he would need to drag L down to her room for a visit.

A Matter of Trust [22 Apr 2005|10:37pm]

ikedasato
He barely managed to slip the black notebook under his pillow before there was a carefully restrained knocking on his door.

"Yes?" he called out in a forced nonchalent voice.

"A spot check, Kitazawa-kun," came the perfectly poised voice from the other side of the door. "Today, we are looking for illicit materials. Please open your door."

Akira opened the door a crack and peered out warily. Bitchy dorm head? Check. Obligatory ass-kissing freshman? Check. And finally, what would an inspection be without the slightly corrupt vice-head of the dorms, Ikeda Sato, who was currently giving him a reproachful look, being the only one who could actually see the state of his room from that angle.

He didn't have the time to clear up. Sometimes, he really couldn't decide if he liked his sempai or detested him. Sure, a warning was nice, but seriously, ten minutes before the check?

"Well?" intoned the dorm head impatiently. "Let us in already."

Reluctantly, Akira stepped back, allowing the trio to invade his room. Contary to what Ikeda-sempai might have believed, he did NOT have porn in his room. Everything was safely locked away inside a password-protected folder in his personal laptop.

Then, Ikeda reached under the pillow. Akira made frantic gestures for him to stop but the damage was done.

"Ah, what have you found, Sato-ku~n?"

Shit. He had the Death Note.

Ikeda merely shrugged. "Looks like a normal notebook to me," he said neutrally.

Mentally, Akira breath a sigh of relief. So Ikeda-sempai didn't notice the instructions or the names in the first page of the book.

"And why would Kitazawa-kun keep an ordinary notebook under his pillow?" asked the dorm head persistantly, reaching out for the black book.

Ikeda calmly stepped out of reach. "It's not what you are looking for, my dear. Try under the bed."

They found nothing, of course, and Akira was glad to bid them farewell. Only about half an hour left... He'd prepare the Death Note. It would probably be safer to get rid of Ikeda Sato as well. After all, sempai did touch the book.

Humming cheerfully to himself, Akira went over to his bed. The note was not there. He checked under the blankets and pillow. Nothing. Where did Ikeda-sempai put the note when he was done with it? Did he even return the notebook? He turned his entire room upside down and found nothing. Which meant...

Ikeda Sato had the Death Note.

"...unless Raito-kun knew this Kira personally."

"You could say that." The looks on everyone's faces, where umdescribable as they were, did hardly at all phase Raito. Mostly this was because he didn't even want to look at them, and especially his father's face. To think that after all of this, he had to admit that he was the one who put them through this Hell, and L STILL wouldn't cooperate?! So then, he would use reasoning and make him listen to him.

"The way I see it," he explained casually, allowing a somewhat cynical smile to cross his face, "you have two choices. You could let me go and I will kill this other Kira personally, hence keeping the government officials from dying, and possibly even stopping a whole World War from errupting. Or, you could keep me here, watch the world corrupt itself and all of Japan and millions of its innocent citizens die. It's a basic exchange, if you think about it. Thousands of criminals for millions of innocent lives."

"... son..."

No, he would not look at him. He would not dare even glance his way. He could not let his love for his father get in his way. He had promised himself from the beginning; if he had to kill him to go through his plan, he would do so. He could not let this conflict with his plan; no, he would not let it. Things were turning his way for once... or, so it seemed. Of all the things he expected to happen, he perhaps should have paid more attention to his father after all.

Suddenly, he was grabbed from behind and held in a tight bear hug from his eleged Dad. "I am tired of this," the man spoke, adding to Raito's widened eyes and the look of pure shock on his face. "Your and Ryuuzaki's mind games are growing on my last nerve! If you truly are Kira... then kill me."

What was he saying?

"If you have that such power, then kill me now! Or I will kill you!!"

Somewhere in a dorm in a university [17 Apr 2005|10:07pm]

ikedasato
He smiled in satisfaction at the broadcast on the television screen. In an hour, he would be GOD. And it was all thanks to that black book on the table. It was fate that the Death Note landed in his hands, so he was destined to be the new Kira. He could not supress a laugh of delirous joy at the thought. Yes, in an hour, things would be utterly wonderful. He would make it that way.

His equipment was strewn all over his floor and his bed as well, but somehow, he found a space to lie down and enjoy his victory.

The door creaked open and he sat up sharply, grabbing for the Death Note. In his mad rush, tapes and lecture notes went flying, settling finally at the feet of the person who just entered, who looked amused.

"Trying to hide your porn? Don't worry, I'm not interested in your magazines."

"I...Ikeda-sempai... it's not..." stammered Kitazawa.

"Oh, a new Kira proclaimation? What is it this time?"

Ah, something he could be proud of. "Kira is now aiming for the heads of the countries of the world instead of troubling himself with small fry. Don't you think it's a much better idea, sempai? He just threatened to kill all the heads of governments if they do not accede to his requests within the hour."

"Oh, really? Doesn't sound like Kira to me."

What? "Sempai, what do you mean?"

"I thought Kira was smarter than that." Ikeda shrugged. "Oh well." He turned around, then paused. "Oh, right. I thought I might warn you, the dorm head is getting bitchy. He's planning a spot check." He looked around the room. "I think you'd better start cleaning. And hide your porn well." With a last grin, he breezed out of the room.

What did that man mean by saying he thought Kira was smarter than that? Was that a slight? While he puzzled it out, he heard a door slamming open a few doors down. Shit, the spot check! Maybe he should just use the damned note to get rid of that psycho dorm head.

No. An hour. In an hour, he wouldn't have to take anymore of this crap. He'd be god. One hour. One hour...

Another one. [16 Apr 2005|05:06pm]

l_ryuuzaki_
After the imprisonment of Raito, Misa and Chief Yagami, L had taken the decision to chain Raito to his wrist, convinced that his intuition tells him the truth. That Raito is Kira. But he knew very well that a hunch alone isn't enough for proof itself, despite how right he is so many times and especially when Yagami-san would be in denial of his son's guilt. It hasn't been just a few days after the sudden stop of Kira I and Kira II's killing spree. But even so, they monitored and kept close attention as to the current changes.

A loud yawn was heard from Matsuda's mouth, holding about 10 files in hand, names of victims which he had to review several times, "You realize how boring this is..?" Matsuda vaguely commented.

"If you feel as if you can't continue in this investigation because of your sudden loss of interest, Matsuda-san, then don't hesitate to leave at once." Ryuuzaki quickly responded.

"..No! no! I didn't mean that at all! It's just, well.. we've been going through files over and over again and--" "Don't back out now." Yagami-san interrupted, going over papers himself by a far away table. "Yes, sir!" Matsuda ashamed, respected.

"I got a call from Sakura TV! It's Kira!" Aizawa-san suddenly burst in, "Hey, you've gotta see this!".

All were a little startled at Aizawa's sudden entrance and neither hesitated to change the channel.

"Hello people of the world! I am Kira. Killing criminals is a waste of time, I realize that now. Instead, justice can be served through me, by me... I want all leaders of the world to surrender control to me. There will be a new justice and a new God, and his name will be Kira! If I do not receive confirmation of your acceptance of that condition in just one hour... I will kill every leader of the state, and every branch of government and below. The choice is yours... so you had better act quick."

Everyone was shocked and terrified, the hosts of the show were announcing that the leaders of Japan and affiliates were threatened of their lives, and that the government are pondering to take action or not, all still afraid of dying.

'This is absurd,' Ryuuzaki told himself. 'the government won't take this lightly, they could... one hour...'

The ex-officers couldn't believe what they heard, and they were afraid that this could mean more than the lives of criminals, but the lives of millions of people as said.

Ryuuzaki sat in silence staring at the TV Screen, but not paying attention to any of it. His eyes fell upon Raito who was beside him, looking deep in thought. This made him wonder.

//

"This doesn't sound like Kira at all." Raito spoke up suddenly, and immediately attention was drawn to him. "I mean, he wants to better the world, right? He wouldn't kill off leaders of all the countries of the world. He should know that will cause even more problems. Worse... if Kira pisses off other countries..."

"... it's possible they won't hesitate to strike us just to be rid of Kira," L finished. "I agree completely with Raito-kun."

"Maybe it's time we use drastic measures," Raito continued. "What if, just for now, we were to make a truce with Kira? If he can kill someone just by knowing their face," 'and name which I just happen to know...' "then he could kill this impostor."

"Even if that ridiculous notion would work... how would we contact him? Do we even have time to make a response? And then won't the other Kira hear about it and strike back? He may very well kill off the leaders and more only earlier!" Yagami-san pointed in.

You won, L... but only for right now. The game isn't completely over, not yet.

"My proposal," Raito spoke up. "You have to let me go, do not have me followed. If you comply to this, then I will kill the man personally."

The shock in that room was enough to make a building collapse. He had expected this... he knew what they were all thinking now. "Son... what are you saying?"

"I'm saying, Dad," Raito responded, "that I am Kira."

//

"..S-son.." Yagami-san and the others couldn't believe the sudden words the boy had said.

"Even if Raito-kun was Kira, he wouldn't know how to contact this other Kira. Letting Raito-kun go would be risky. Even to my life. And I'm not about to dis-considerate what I've done so far so easily..." he paused for a moment, absently biting down onto the nail of his thumb "...unless Raito-kun knew this Kira personally."

This was bad. Of all the things that could happen, just when the tables were beginning to turn in his favor and he could possibly get out of this whole mess on a clean slate, Ryuuku had to return him the Death Note because he was lonely. Maybe he fed that guy one too many apples. No, no need to think about that now. If Raito wanted to get out of this he had to keep his guard up and his mind focussed. There was no way he could hide the Death Note well enough for no one to find it in this secluded area, especially while chained to Ryuuzaki. It was a miracle Ryuuku managed to sneak it in at night while the two were sleeping without him getting caught.

Now they were back to their habbits, sitting at movable chairs and staring at the television screen trying to make heads or tails of the situation. He, on the other hand... well, he was just trying to desperately come up with a way to get himself released. The only way L would let him go was if they caught Kira, and he himself had been determined to hold that promise. If he said anything against it now, suspicions would be raised even more, and he would be yet again backed up against the wall. Maybe if there was some way to diverge them...

His prayers were suddenly answered, even though he was by no means a religious guy. "Hey, you've gotta see this!" "Hmm?" The channel was changed, and there across the screen was a famliar name put in familiar, yet slightly worsened font. "Hello people of the world! I am Kira."

L and the others were now practically shoving their heads up at the screen, and even Raito didn't need to act to move closer for a better look himself.

"Killing criminals is a waste of time, I realize that now. Instead, justice can be served through me, by me..."

What was this guy? Some pathetic attempt at a philosopher? Just who did Remu give the notebook to anyway?

"... I want all leaders of the world to surrender control to me. There will be a new justice and a new God, and his name will be Kira! If I do not recieve confirmation of your acceptance of that condition in just one hour... I will kill every leader of the state, and every branch of government and below. The choice is yours... so you had better act quick."

Suddenly, Raito's dream turned into his worst nightmare. And strangely enough, that voice sounded so familiar... but where had he heard it? Where...

"This... this is inconcievable!" Yagami-san called, and his voice seemed to carry in unicin with the other in the room. "One hour..."

One hour... the conversation enveloping around Raito were dead whispers to him. He didn't hear a single word of it. That voice, he knew that voice! Visions plagued his mind, and over and over he searched old memories, old sounds. One after another, nothing familiar matched up... until one face.

"Hey, you must be Yagami Raito."

"Yeah, that's me."

"I'm Kitazawa Akira. I'm in your science class. Did lecture cancel today?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, thanks. Bye."

It was so simple it was infuriating. Why was it that all of the other owners of the Death Note were so careless? He heard that this guy, Kitazawa, moved away some months later, but to where he was unsure. He supposed they could scower all of Japan, but that would be no good. It would take them just an hour to figure out a plan of action even if they happened to find him.

"You could kill him now, Raito." Ryuuku's voice hung in the background, and Raito's eyes shot open and narrowed. Kill him? He could... it would be so easy. But there would be no way he could do it chained to L like this. It was beyond impossible. Perhaps if it were someone more idiotic... but no. It had to be this guy. It had to be Ryuuzaki... L... whatever his name was. But what would happen if he just let things play out?

"...if I do not recieve confirmation of your acceptance of that condition in just one hour... I will kill every leader of the state, and every branch of government and below. The choice is yours... so you had better act quick."

If this happened, Kira would immediately become an enemy. Not only that, but would the other countries retaliate? If they believed Kira was here, and they did, would they feel it better to be just safe and sorry by destroying everyone who lived in Japan, just to save the rest of the world? Yes... that was a possibility. No, more than that. People could do unthinkable things at times, even the so-pronouned USA if they felt the need to protect their people. This was no longer about the lives of criminals. This was was about the lives of millions of innocent people. 'I meant to make the world a better place... but how can I help people if they're all dead?'

He had no other choice. He had to play L's game.

"This doesn't sound like Kira at all." Raito spoke up suddenly, and immediately attention was drawn to him. "I mean, he wants to better the world, right? He wouldn't kill off leaders of all the countires of the world. He should know that will cause even more problems. Worse... if Kira pisses off other countires..."

"... it's possible they won't hesitate to strike us just to be rid of Kira," L finished. "I agree completely with Raito-kun."

"Maybe it's time we use drastic measures," Raito continued. "What if, just for now, we were to make a truce with Kira? If he can kill someone just by knowing their face," 'and name which I just happen to know...' "then he could kill this imposter."
